Ciao a tutte! Ragazze ho bisogno del vs aiuto.

Devo sostenere una prova scritta (test a scelta multipla) per la selezione di un corso di formazione sull'autismo. Le richieste sn state molte quindi A SORPRESA si farà una prima selezione scritta. Non mi hanno dato molte info su cosa verterà la prova (argomenti inerenti il corso!!! Ma no?!?!) quindi ora sono qui a crecare di leggere il più possibile per cercare di avere più informazioni possibili.

Qualcuna di voi ha suggerimenti, riassunti, schemi, bignami, consigli per aiutarmi in quest'impresa quasi assurda??? La prova sarà venerdì ovvero tra 2 giorni!!!!

Salve a tutti
mi rendo conto che la discussione è dedicata all'autismo, ma spero comunque che qualcuno voglia darmi qualche "dritta" e condividere le prorpie esperienze.
MI è stato chiesto di seguire un 16enne con ritardo mentale lieve. La sua famiglia lamenta soprattutto una difficoltà del ragazzo nel rispettare le regole ed un mancato riconoscimento dell'autorità genitoriale, infatti diventa aggressivo solo con loro, in particolare con la madre.
Sapreste darmi qualche consiglio? conoscete libri che spieghino praticamente strategie di intervento (finora ho trovato solo manuali sul ritardo mentale in genere)?

Ciao

Il primo passo e' capire perhe' il ragazzino diventa aggressivo. Chiedi ai genitori di prendere nota di cosa succede prima e dopo gli episodi di aggressivita' e in cosa consistono gli episodi in se'. Di solito questo e' abbastanza per identificare la funzione del comportamento.
Fatto questo puo' essere abbastanza lineare suggerire una soluzione...

Che bello, l'argomento è davvero interessante... io credo che possa venir fuori una tesi bellissima anche sperimantale! non sono un'esperta di stress -a meno che non ci si possa considerare esperte solo per il fatto di viverne molto - ma ora esistono diversi strumenti di valutazione che potresti utilizzare in una bella ricerca sperimentale e se non sbaglio esistono strumenti specifici per lo stress genitoriale... poi c'è comunque un po' di letteratura (articoli e testi) sul rapporto famiglia-disabilità che, anche se non specifica per l'autismo, potresti utilizzare per la parte generale.

anche io sto facendo una tesi sperimentale sul livello di stress genitoriale,e avrei bisogno di materiale (articoli,libri) per completare la parte compilativa!se qualcuno potesse suggerirmi qualkosa gliene sarei grata!

Grazie Memole, senz'altro andrò a vedere i siti che mi ha indicato! In particolar modo mi focalizzerò sugli aspetti legati a socializzazione e comunicazione, come mi ha consigliato oggi l'insegnante di sostegno del bimbo e quindi cercherò attività inerenti a questo, oltre che alle competenze cognitive...

l'ABA: Applied Behaviour Analysis (correggimi se sbaglio) è una terapia ad indirizzo cognitivo comportamentale, basata quindi su rinforzi, modeling, task analissys..).........e premetto che lavorando da anni con bambini autistici spesso ricorro a metodologia diverse....anche cognitivo comportamentali, anzi soprattutto..e riconosco nell'ABA un importante metodo!

MA dire che sia L'UNICO FONDATO SCIENTIFICAMENTE E SERIO..beh..mi sembra proprio un eresia!

Esistono molti metodi: la terapia relazionale, la terapia cognitivo comportamentale,il floor time, la terapia razionale emotiva, teacch , metodo denver le terapie naturalistiche e addirittura la psicoanalisi...
Ora alcuni di questi saranno maggiormente accreditati rispetto ad altri....ma TUTTI sono fondati scientificamente!

E aggiugno, mia personale opinione (NON fondata scientificamente ma basata sull'esperienza) il metodo che (PER ME) funziona di più..è quello integrato che prevede l'utilizzo di diverse metodologie!...

Abstract: This conceptual paper considers the role of culture in shaping family, professional, and community understanding of developmental disabilities and their treatments. The meanings of health, illness, and disability vary greatly across cultures and across time. We use Bronfenbrenner's ecological model to provide a theoretical framework for examining disability, with special attention to autism spectrum disorders. Cultural beliefs about the cause of a disorder influence families' decision-making about what treatments to use and what outcomes to expect. Autism provides an example that is especially challenging, as there is no agreed-upon cause. Also, an overwhelming array of treatments is available in the West for autism, including behavioral, cognitive, pharmaceutical, sensory, relational, vitamin, and diet therapies. Other cultures contribute additional views on cause (e.g., Karma, Allah's will) and treatments (e.g., acupuncture, herbal medicines, Ayurveda). We suggest how a broad cultural view can help us understand treatments and the treatment delivery system of a nation and a culture. For the best course of care, professionals need to understand and respect families' views of autism and work toward mutually agreeable treatments that may involve a combination of biomedical and cultural practices. Although a family-focused, open teamwork model that aims to acknowledge the context of the child, take into consideration the strengths and limitations of the child and the family, and introduce appropriate, sustainable, and sensitive interventions is regarded as best practice in the United States, it will take sensitive work to find out whether it will suit other cultural groups across the world. Music Interventions for Children with Autism: Narrative Review of the Literature.

Abstract: It is widely reported that music can be beneficial to individuals with autism. This review was undertaken to determine the evidence base for the use of music as an intervention for children with autism. After searching relevant databases, 128 articles were identified of which 20 articles met the study's inclusion criteria. Composed songs and improvisational music therapy were the predominant music techniques used. There was somewhat limited evidence to support the use of music interventions under certain conditions to facilitate social, communicative and behavioural skills in young children with autism. The implications of these findings in terms of use of music interventions, issues related to generalization and maintenance, and future research are discussed. Comparison of Behavioral Intervention and Sensory-Integration Therapy in the Treatment of Challenging Behavior.

Abstract: The objective of the current study was to compare the effects of sensory-integration therapy (SIT) and a behavioral intervention on rates of challenging behavior (including self-injurious behavior) in four children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. For each of the participants a functional assessment was conducted to identify the variables maintaining challenging behavior. Results of these assessments were used to design function-based behavioral interventions for each participant. Recommendations for the sensory-integration treatment were designed by an Occupational Therapist, trained in the use of sensory-integration theory and techniques. The sensory-integration techniques were not dependent on the results of the functional assessments. The study was conducted within an alternating treatments design, with initial baseline and final best treatment phase. For each participant, results demonstrated that the behavioral intervention was more effective than the sensory integration therapy in the treatment of challenging behavior. In the best treatment phase, the behavioral intervention alone was implemented and further reduction was observed in the rate of challenging behavior. Analysis of saliva samples revealed relatively low levels of cortisol and very little stress-responsivity across the SIT condition and the behavioral intervention condition, which may be related to the participants' capacity to perceive stress in terms of its social significance. Effects of a Family-Implemented Treatment on the Repetitive Behaviors of Children with Autism.

Abstract: The restricted and repetitive behaviors of children with autism can interfere with family functioning as well as learning and socialization opportunities for the child. To date, neither pharmacological nor comprehensive behavioral treatments have been found to be consistently effective at significantly reducing children's engagement in repetitive behaviors. We developed Family- Implemented Treatment for Behavioral Inflexibility (FITBI) to target the full variety of repetitive behaviors found in autism. For the current study, a therapist and parents of five children with autism (mean age = 48 months) co-implemented FITBI in a clinic setting over a 12-week treatment period. Using single case design methodology, significant reductions in repetitive behaviors were found for all participants and maintenance of treatment effects for 4 of 5 participants. No "magic pill" for autism spectrum disorders: Although medication prescriptions are common, there is little evidence they do any good.

Abstract: The article focuses on the review of research by Vanderbilt University Evidence-Based Practice Center under the request of the U.S. Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality on various treatments for autism spectrum disorder in children ages 12 and below. It says that the report showed that no medications can improve social skills or communication ability in children with autism spectrum disorders. Intricacies, Complexities, and Limitations of Research on Autism Treatments: An Examination of Seven Treatment Approaches.

Abstract: Part 1 of this article, published in Volume 12, Issue 2, probed factors associated with autism. Many of those factors had to do with how toxic substances are polluting our environment. Investigative chicanery involving one neurotoxic agent in particular (thimerosal) was uncovered. The controversy surrounding this neurotoxic agent was examined in some detail, and questions were raised whether information about the degree of toxicity of thimerosal was being minimized, distorted, or covered up by authorities and agencies in positions of influence. Other potentially harmful sources that might differentially contribute to what some might regard as an autism epidemic were listed and described as well. In this section, science and scientific investigation are described, with particular reference to the complexities, intricacies, and difficulties inherent in conducting research on autistic children, and how these intricacies complicate drawing definitive conclusions about if, how, or why a treatment method did or did not work. In addition, seven treatment approaches to autism are listed, along with concise descriptions of these methods and a general rationale underpinning each method. Considerable attention is paid to applied behavior analysis (ABA) because most behavioral treatments derive from it. Commentary on other treatments is provided, such as psychoanalysis, special diets, and chelation. In particular, aftereffects associated with medication tactics are noted.
